INFO:Fortune is a former left-side midfielder or left-back who could also play as central midfielder. He had his best time at Manchester United, playing 126 matches and scoring 11 goals from 1999 to 2006. Unfortunately, his career was cursed by many injuries that limited his consistency. He managed to play more constantly between 2003 and 2005, even though he reached an average number of 27 matches in all competitions and 14 of them as substitute. Fortune played also for Mallorca, Atlético de Madrid, Bolton Wanderers, Brescia, Tubize and Doncaster Rovers, retiring in 2010. He capped for South Africa53 times, scoring 2 goals, both from penalty.
Fortune was a versatile player, helpful in all the zones of the field thanks also to a good stamina. He could use his speed on the flanks, step up to support the attack or have the will to help in defence. It's not a case that he came in as fresh substitute in many occasions because he could add a spark in the match thanks to his playstyle. His dribbling weren't always accurate but the quickness of his movements sometimes made them efficient. He was dangerous when attacking due to a powerful first time shot. He was less effective at defending and covering, even though he tried what he could. Thanks to a nice elevation, he could overcome some opponents and intercept them with the head. Left-footed, he wasn't bad with the right foot and could use the outside quite well. A good passer of the ball, he was mostly effective when delivering short passes − which he could do even when challenged by an opponent − sometimes giving them a bit of curling. After passing the ball, he often made overlapping runs forward. On the other hand, his long passes had good speed but weren't always accurate.
