INFO:Li Weifeng is a former centre back. His career began in 1998 at Shenzhen, where he played 151 matches and scored 8 goals in nine seasons. He was loaned to Everton for the 2002-03 season ─ after he impressed at the 2002 FIFA World Cup ─ but played in the English team only twice. He had experiences also at Shanghai Shenhua, Suwon Bluewings and Tianjin Teda, where he retired in 2015. He gained 112 caps for China ─ 46 as captain ─ scoring 14 goals, taking part to the 2000 and 2004 AFC Asian Cups as well as the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Li Weifeng was a fierce and technically skilled defender, gifted with temperament, fine speed and covering ability. However, he was mostly renowned for his excellent heading that provided him many goals during set pieces. He impressed for his hard work ─ especially during training ─ body balance and strength. His strong personality and ability to command the defence turned him into an automatic choice as captain since he was young. His excessive and controversial behavior in the field though made him receive numerous red cards.
