During the 08-10 era, Martín struck me as an unsecure but versatile defender. He was mainly a RSB for Juve, but he could play basically anywhere in a 4-man backline. He seemed particularly weak on 1-vs-1 situations, lacking positional awareness and having trouble to man-mark opposite players without fouling them too often. His technical skills was messy, he wasted lots of crosses by blasting them past his targets. Overall, I'd say he still hadn't matured as a proper defender.
