INFO:

Mohammed Al-Shalhoub is a legend of Saudi football, he had an incredibly successful career winning 33 trophies with Al-Hilal, his only club. He's known for his longevity, having won the Asian Champions League in both 2000 and 2019 while he also earned his last international cap 18 years after making his debut. Al-Shalhoub was a very small player, usually playing on the left side of midfield but sometimes switching to the right side, and also often playing as a traditional 10 in the middle of the pitch. His best asset was his excellent crossing and ability from set pieces. He took all corners and free kicks and always put them into a dangerous area, with good swerve that made them difficult to defend against. He also scored plenty of goals directly from free kicks too. While he wasn't a quick player, his small frame made him tricky to defend against and he liked to feint his way past defenders, sometimes even cutting onto his right foot. Although his long passes were mostly excellent, his short passes often lacked pace which led to him giving the ball away, although he had some nice 1-2 passes and could quickly think his way out of tight situations. He preferred to stay behind the ball during his team's attacks and rarely entered the box, but still managed a good scoring record with over 100 total goals for Al-Hilal and was even the Saudi League's top scorer in the 2009/10 season. With the Saudi national team, he attended 2 World Cups in 2002 and 2006 (he didn't play any minutes in 2006) but overall he played during an unsuccessful time for the team, although he was almost always the best player on the pitch and one of the leading players in Asia.
