Simone Pepe is a former side midfielder or winger, occasionally deployed out of necessity as secondary striker or wing back. He had his best seasons at Udinese from 2006 to 2010 (he played for Cagliari in 2006-07) and Juventus from 2010 to 2015. He played 128 matches and scored 18 goals for Udinese, 95 games and 13 goals for Juventus. He played also for Lecco, Teramo, Palermo, Piacenza, ChievoVerona and Pescara, where he retired in 2017. He capped for Italy 23 times, taking part to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Pepe was a versatile and hardworking player, gifited with great speed and stamina that allowed him to make constant runs up and down the flank, contributing to both offense and defence. He was mostly right-footed, possessed superb technique, dribbling skills and vision. He distributed the ball very well and was distinguished particularly for his accurate crossing ability. He had a fine finishing ability even though he wasn't always very quick in the execution. He sporadically scored with headers. He was a set piece specialist as he often took corners and sometimes scored from free kick with remarkable curled shots. He was injury prone, especially in the last part of his career.
