Lavezzi is a former secondary striker or winger ─ usually on the left side ─ capable of playing as attacking midfielder and centre forward. His career began in 2003 at Estudiantes Buenos Aires. He transferred to San Lorenzo the following year. He then had an excellent five-year experience at Napoli, making 188 appearances from 2007 to 2012, scoring 48 goals. He left for Paris Saint-Germain, where he had another remarkable spell, scoring 35 goals in 161 matches from 2012 to February 2016. He retired in 2019 after spending four seasons in China at Hebei. He capped for Argentina 51 times, scoring 6 goals.
An excellent though not very consistent player, Lavezzi was distinguished for his outstanding pace, especially in acceleration, explosive agility, and the ability to dribble multiple opponents with ease. He possessed amazing technical skill, creativity, accurate passing, and an hardworking style of play. He was sharp around the box, not too light thanks to a sturdy physique, and capable of making efficient late runs in order to receive the ball inside the box, helped by his pace and timing.
During his first seasons at Napoli, Lavezzi proved to be essential for the team's offensive maneuvers thanks to his dribbling and crosses. While he liked to challenge his opponents one-on-one and get to the box or to the end of the field, he wasn't too selfish as he often sent the ball in the box with ground crosses or made a through pass to a better placed teammate. His shooting ability was good too. He mostly scored from outside the box, usually with powerful shots, or he tapped the ball in after one of his late runs, often anticipating defenders and goalkeeper. He also scored a few good free kicks, showing remarkable curling.
During the second part of his Napoli time, he was much more of an individualist. His speed, technique and dribbling were still top-tier. However, he was too much determined in finishing the action by himself, shooting any time he could even if he wasn't in a favourable position. While he scored a decent amount of goals in his last two years at Napoli, the number of missed goals is far higher as he often delivered awful shots also from easy spots. Nonetheless, if on one side he looked less of a team player, his crossing ability was improved, to the point that he was now the main corner taker and free kick taker ─ Marek Hamšík was previously the main one and Walter Gargano was usually the second choice. Lavezzi's crosses looked much faster other than accurate, causing lots of troubles to the opposition's defences.
Much less individualist during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, Lavezzi was an even better passer, while his crossing ability was still excellent. Even though he didn't provide as many assists as he did at Napoli, he was often the one who started the attacking play for potential scoring chances. His scoring rate wasn't particularly high and he scored mostly from easy spots or with tap-ins, though he scored some remarkable goals from time to time. He seemed stronger in physical duels and just a bit slower compared to prior years, though his short sprints were still crucial on the wing. He showed great versatility as he wasn't deployed only as winger, usually on the left, and secondary striker, but also as centre forward or side midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation. He moved frequently along the forward line, often switching side during the attacking play so that he could deliver his crosses from different positions.

He was a beast back in 2010-2012, but i don't know if he before those years he showed something like his level in those years.
