His career started in 1996 at Empoli in Serie B but he played only 1 match. He left at the end of the season and came back in 1999 after loans to Serie C teams. He then spent five seasons with Empoli, scoring 55 goals in 178 games and was instrumental for the team's Serie A promotion in 2001-02. He transferred to Udinese in 2004, becoming one of the club's best ever players as he scored 227 times in 446 appearances from 2004 to 2016. He played for Italy 42 times, scoring 11 goals. Di Natale showed great pace, mobility, technical skills and versatility since he was playing for Empoli. Right-footed but very accurate with the left too, he could use the outside extremely well, score from difficult positions, first time, with lobs or curled shots. He also had good ball distribution, especially with crosses. After joining Udinese, he became more prolific, improved his vision, positional sense and technical skills. He could face the defenders and beat them with accurate and quick dribbling or turns before providing a potential assist or attempt to score. He could deliver great long balls, either high or low and from difficult positions. He could score from long range or with volleys as his shot technique was better than it was during his time at Empoli. Otherwise, he rushed towards the goal to receive the ball and tap it in or beat the goalkeeper one-on-one with accurate shots, showing an excellent speed of execution. He improved also his heading ability as well as opportunism and timing of reaction in front of the goal. These qualities were even more evident during the 2010s, when he was deployed more as centre forward. In this period, his shot technique became impeccable and one of the best in Serie A as he could score in any way and from any position. Already a good penalty taker during the first half of his Udinese career, he became a specialist since the 2009-10 season, scoring 25 of his 41 penalties throughout the 2010s. Moreover, he turned out to be an excellent free kick taker, capable of scoring superb goals with great curling. Spoiler: show |

I think that he's prime set 2009-2012 is underrated in some aspects like ATK ,SPA ,SA , SP , AGG , TMW ATK he knows where needs to be placed to score i see games from in him back in those day and he really deserved 92-93. SPA can beup to 85 is up to CR7 accuracy of Prime Madrid's era so i take that example i think he deserved. SA All he's shoots are insane placed and he's definition was he's key ability , i think he is at the same level of Rivaldo's Barça Era. SP Take the fact he was not so strong in he's shoots but i dont think that Robinho of Milan Era is more powerfull that him , so i suggest 81. AGG always keep the control of attack always getting ahead of the Udinese game. |

Isn't his ATT a bit low in the last set? Only 5 players have scored more goals in Serie A than him. Considering somebody like Signori has 91 for example, I don't really see Di Natale below him, especially considering his range of skills. He was legitimately a world class striker at the start of the 2010s. |
