Suazo is former a centre forward who could play also as winger. Arguably one of the greatest players from Honduras, he spent the majority of his career at Cagliari, where he scored 102 goals in 274 matches and became the club's second top scorer behind the unmatched Gigi Riva. He played also for Inter, Benfica, Genoa and Catania, retiring in 2012. He capped 57 times for Honduras, scoring 17 goals.
Suazo was a striker gifted with incredible speed: in his prime he could run 100 metres in 11 seconds. Thanks to his speed he didn't need to be greatly reactive since whenever the ball was alone in the box he could easily reach it within a second. When he first arrived in Italy, he had troubles at controlling the ball or scoring in front of the goalkeeper. Fortunately he improved both these characteristics. As soon as he learned the tactics of Italian football, he became a lethal scorer. He was capable to use both feet equally well and make first time touches, shoot with accuracy or great power, deliver long range shots or shoot from difficult positions, reach the goal and dribble the goalkeeper − most of the times after dribbling a few defenders too. He was also an able piece taker, having scored a few free kicks and 14 out of 14 penalties for Cagliari.
