Bellini is a former left-back, deployed as right-back or centre back out of necessity. A one-club man, he spent his entire career at Atalanta, making 435 appearances from 1998 to 2016, scoring 12 goals. He's the player with most appearances in Atalanta's history. A good side-back, Bellini had a style of play well balanced between defence and attack, especially when he was supported efficiently by Simone Padoin. Otherwise, Bellini would surge forward more frequently. In defence, he showed good sense of position and anticipation that allowed him to make timely interventions, and a remarkable elevation that helped him clear the ball with the head. In the attack, he could be an additional winger thanks to his solid pace, dribbling, very good crossing ability and occasional long range shots. A natural right-footed, he was accurate with the left foot too and seemingly used it even more than his strong foot.
