Adaílton is a former secondary striker and attacking midfielder, rarely used as side midfielder. He spent the majority of his career at Hellas Verona from 1999 to 2006: 173 matches and 52 goals. He played also for Parma, Paris Saint-Germain, Genoa and Bologna. His two most prolific seasons were the last at Hellas Verona and the one at Genoa − both in Serie B − where scored 30 times in 71 games. He was near to be called up for Brazil at the end of the 1990s but soon after his career had a quick downfall.
Adaílton was left-footed, gifted with great technique and an excellent touch of the ball. He was fine also with the right foot as well as the outside. He was capable to challenge a defender in a 1-on-1 situation and dribble him. He could decide the match with a free kick or a penalty, which he was a specialist of. The third Hellas Verona's top scorer, he seemed to have though several flaws. He was quite static too many times during the match and rarely showed determination and offensive aggression. He often moved to the flank to open the space and if he couldn't shoot, he passed the ball to a teammate. Unfortunately, his passes weren't always accurate.
