Ahn Jung-hwan is one of South Korea's most iconic and culturally significant football figures, permanently etched into global football history by his exploits at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He burst onto the domestic scene with the Busan Daewoo Royals, remarkably winning the K League MVP award in 1999 despite his team not winning the championship title—a historic first. This domestic success earned him a groundbreaking move to AC Perugia, making him one of the early South Korean pioneers in Italy's Serie A.
