Ljungberg is a former side or attacking midfielder and occasionally secondary striker. Grown up at Halmstad, he played there 92 matches from 1994 to 1998, scoring 11 goals. He then transferred to Arsenal, where he was a key player for nine years, making 325 appearances, scoring 72 goals, winning two Premier Leagues, three FA Cups and an FA Charity Shield. He retired in 2014 after experiences with West Ham United, Seattle Sounders, Chicago Fire, Celtic, Shimizu S-Pulse and Mumbai City. He gained 75 caps for Sweden, scoring 14 goals.
Right-footed but very accurate with the left too, Ljungberg was gifted with excellent technique. Very fast and hard to stop, he made always in time progressions towards the area or ran down the flank from a deep position even though he preferred acting behind the forward line. He proved to be a good scorer as well as a team player, who helped a lot in the back, recovering balls for the entire match thanks to his speed and stamina. Also a good passer, he had at Arsenal an incredible understanding with his teammates, especially Bergkamp and Pirès.
