INFO:Jan Fiala is one of the best defenders in the history of Dukla and Czechoslovak football. Very, very fast and technically good, he could dribble couple of rivals in full speed starting mainly on the left side, both with left and right foot. He could play everywhere in back line, as stopper, as offensive left back and as sweeper also. He had excellent sense of anticipating, good passing range although didn't score too much goals. Fiala played in his youth for SK Slatinice and Strojírny Uničov. In 1975, the defender to Dukla Prague, with whom he was in 1977, 1979 and 1982 champion and 1981 and 1983 won the cup. 1982 Fiala was elected Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year. In 1980 he was in the squad for the European Championship in Italy, but did not play. In 1982 he was part of the Czechoslovak World Cup squad. His first international match was contested Fiala 1977 against Hungary until 1987, he added a further 57 added. Here in 1982 his only goal was scored him with a 3-1 win against Denmark in Copenhagen; in this and 31 other encounters he led the team as captain. In the 1st Czechoslovak league Fiala graduated 310 games and scored two goals. 1987/88 he played for Le Havre AC, from 1988 to 1991 for FC Bourges and then another two years for the small French club AS Saint-Amand-Montrond. From 1993 to 1995 he played for the Lower Austrian club USC Mallersbach and then several more years for the SK Černolice. Fiala worked so far only as assistant coach and indeed at Dukla Prague Dukla and Pribram (1996 to 1998), Victoria Plzen (2000 to 2001), FK Teplice (2001), FK Jablonec 97 (2001 to 2003) and SC Xaverov Horni Počernice (2004-2005).
