He played for several Indian clubs in the 1980s and 1990s, having his peak and best time at East Bengal Club. He capped for India 34 times, scoring 10 goals. Known as "Indian Maradona" for his superb skills, style of play and short size, Krishanu is considered one of India's best ever playmakers. Initially a thin player, he became more muscular but prone to injuries. He relied on solid technique, ball control, tight dribbling, accurate passing skills, great vision of the game. His short body meant that he had a low center of balance. Throughout the years, he developed a hard tackling ability that allowed him to take the ball off the defenders easily. Yet, he avoided charging the defenders due to his physique. As he lacked of ability in the air, he focused on his dribbling skills and movements off the ball. He created many scoring chances with the uncanny ability to deliver through passes or by taking markers away, splitting the defence in order to free the strikers. He could beat the defenders not only with his technique but also with sudden accelerations. He and his teammate Bikash Panji understood each other well, exchanging passes and keeping the defenders busy. Krishanu sometimes proved to possess good stamina when he often dribbled from midfield to the opposing box. On the other hand, he was known for his effortlessness and lazy style of play. https://youtu.be/A1WkRMyvUoc documentary about Krishanu |
