INFO:
Fabio Marangon − Luciano's younger brother − was mainly a right back and right wing back, who could play also as centre back. He grew up at Juventus, where his professional career also began in 1979. He gained only 1 Serie A appearance before leaving the club. He then played for Prato, Lanerossi Vicenza, Sanremese and Alessandria. In 1984 he joined Hellas Verona and his brother. He won the Scudetto in his first season but playing only 10 matches, most of which in Coppa Italia. He played 7 games in the following seasons and 16 in 1986-87 but mainly as a substitute. He was loaned to Sambenedettese in Serie B for the 1987-88 season finding much more space: 40 matches and 2 goals. He came back at Hellas Verona, playing more regularly in 30 games, scoring again twice. Despite that, he was sold to Triestina, where he played only a few matches. He retired in 1990 when he was only 28 years old, probably not having anything left to prove.
Marangon was a promising player with high potential but he didn't live up to the expectations. He had decent technique and crossing ability, was right-footed but seemed comfortable with the left as well and could be dangerous near the opposing box thanks to his volley shots, which most of the times though were weak and not accurate. He was short but had a nice physique, had good speed on short distances and gave stability to the team when he played nearer the midfield. He was less effective as central defender, making avoidable mistakes and sometimes having troubles at calibrating the marking. However, he managed to stop Paolo Rossi in his first match with Hellas Verona after coach Osvaldo Bagnoli let him decide if marking Rossi or Massimo Briaschi. In any case, he was the opposite of his brother Luciano in terms of mentality and personality.
