INFO:Dirjal is a former centre back and sweeper. His career began in 1977. He played for Al-Zawraa, Al-Talaba and Al-Rasheed, where he retired in 1990. He gained 121 caps for Iraq, scoring 8 goals. He won the 1982 Asian Games and took part to the Olympics in 1980, 1984 and 1988. He unfortunately missed the 1986 FIFA World Cup through injury.
One of the most prominent captains and one of the best ever defenders in the history of Iraq, Dirjal is a symbol of the Iraqi golden generation. Always wearing the shirt n°2, he was the ideal defender, towering, solid, gifted with a rare style, diligent, covering the space in front of every main forward, being the most reliable in the heart of the defence. He was renowned for his strength and durability as well as for having arguably the most powerful shot in Iraq. In fact, it wasn't rare that he left the defence, supported the attack, showed decent technique and tried to shoot on goal especially from long range.
