INFO:Karim Allawi ─ younger brother of Khalil Allawi ─ is a former right back or right side midfielder. His career began in 1977. He played for Al-Amana, Al-Rasheed and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, retiring in 1995 after a total of 313 matches and 52 goals. He gained 91 caps for Iraq, scoring 11 times, taking part to 1982 and 1986 Asian Games, 1984 Arabian Gulf Cup, 1986 FIFA World Cup ─ he didn't make any appearance due to physical problems since he was injury prone ─ and 1988 Olympics.
A prolific scorer despite his mainly defensive position, Allawi scored many crucial goals, the most important of which is considered the one against Qatar during the 1986 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Dangerous from outside the box, also with the outside of the foot, he scored some remarkable long range goals, one of them being from a very long distance against Kuwait during the 1984 Arabian Gulf Cup. He also possessed fine pace, decent leap and heading ability. He played at great levels especially for his clubs and was a reliable key player in the national team because he always did his duties. Capable also in the defence, he was very helpful when the main defenders of a team missed a match, filling the defensive gap.
