Attack/Defence Awareness Card: BalancedINFO:Stewart McKimmie was Aberdeen's starting right back for many years, with 561 games he is their 5th most capped player of all time. McKimmie was a quick and tenacious right back, good in defensive duties which also allowed him to play as a center back or sweeper later in his career. He wasn't the most positionally astute defender but he had great reactions and an aggressive style of play which made him a very effective ball winner. He could also contribute offensively; despite not being an outstanding crosser or dribbler, his energy down the flank allowed him to consistently get in good positions to progress the play forward. McKimmie was also good in the air despite his lack of height, he could outjump taller players and he was a tough fighter who would battle for every ball. He was also known for his consistency, giving solid performances every week for years. Upon joining Aberdeen, he had the difficult task of replacing club legend Stuart Kennedy, and he did so splendidly. McKimmie's passion sometimes led to confrontations as he held himself and others to very high standards, and actually he is not so popular with Aberdeen fans after an incident where he gave the middle finger to the stands and later criticisms of the club after retiring. With the Scottish national team, McKimmie won 40 caps, and his 1 goal was a famous winner against world champions Argentina. He represented his country at the 1990 World Cup and Euros 1992 and 1996. With Aberdeen he won 9 trophies including 2 league titles and the European Super Cup.
