INFOS:

Quote:
He was an excellent organisor, an ability he performed with much skill, both at his clubs and the Red Devils with Guy Thys. His defence stood. Meeuws led and guided them, corrected where needed. He played as much with his mouth as his feet. He was a master in setting a perfectly annoying off-side trap. He played the European Championship in 1980 and the 1982 World Cup with the Red Devils.

Legendary Belgian defender, one of their best ever. Played as an offensive sweeper, and was one of the most influential players in Belgian NT under the guidance of Guy Thys. He was greatly compatible with Luc Millecamps. He was amazing in anticipation and reactions when opponent came directly onto him, an also a commander of the whole defense. As he was great in technical aspects of the game, he often organized attacks, made forward runs with or without the ball. His confidence was high and he often went into dribblings, even when he had simpler solutions. That playing style sometimes led to errors. He didn't hesitate to shot on the goal when possible, and also liked to try not only pinpoint passes but also crosses. He had a problem when a result wasn't good for his team, he argued with officials, opponents, and often tried some strange shots, generally, loss of concentration was visible. He ran a lot, covered the whole pitch, and was pretty fast when he reaches his top speed. He was irreplaceable part of the only Belgian generation that reached final of one tournament.
