As successful as a winger and a half back/offensive midfielder. Zvonko Ivezić was an artist. Master. As a captain and a born team leader, he often knew to give his teammates and above all, as he always pointed out, to great teammates that extra and special level of discipline and grit. In Sochaux, the club's duty man - he covered everything, even libero when needed. He could literally be found everywhere in the field. Almost tireless, with very intelligent plays and remarkable technique, his trademark were long range balls and shots. Something of a free roaming & creative midfielder/playmaker, he could launch the ball with both feet well. After passing the junior categories of Vojvodina, he played for the first team from 1967 to 1976, during which time he played 220 First League games and scored 59 goals (458 official matches with 170 goals), after which he continued his career in France, where from 1976 to 1982 he played for Sochaux (183 games, 53 goals) and Paris (33 games, four goals). With Sochaux, he was 2nd in 1980, and 3rd in 1982. He also participated in Sochaux's European campaign in 1981 which stopped in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup (defeat against AZ Alkmaar). He played his best season in Sochaux in 80/81. As a midfielder for 9 rounds before the end of the championship with 15 goals, he was the top scorer of France and second in Europe. What kind of reputation Ivezić enjoyed in France testifies to the fact that in 1978 he was offered citizenship in order to compete for the national team of that country at the World Cup in Argentina. With good games in Vojvodina, he imposed himself on the selectors of the state team, so he played five games for the young national team and four for the "A" team. He made his debut in a match against the Netherlands (3:0) in Belgrade on 31 May 1975, and the last time he was in the blue shirt was in a friendly match in Rome, with Italy, on 29 September 1976.
