A fine technician, he is good everywhere but does not shine anywhere. Quite skillful in front of goal, he has a good vision of the game and an excellent quality of passing. Excellent header, very high jump, fast & very mobile attacker, often would drop all the way back to middle or defence (on the side) to pick up the ball. When on the wing, he wasn't so accurate, sometimes static, mostly dribbles in place. His long balls and crosses were more like baloons. Good acceleration, but pretty chaotic in his runs, always looked like he was chasing after the ball in his legs. A multi-service player in all the clubs he played in (from Sochaux to Ajaccio via Monaco, Nantes, RC Paris, Toulon and Martigues) because he was swept around in all positions of the attack. During his sixteen years of professionalism he still managed to accumulate 486 matches in D1 while scoring 99 goals, which earned him to appear among the players who have played the greatest number of matches in the French elite. In his first season in Sochaux (79/80), he accumulated 17 matches and helped them get the 2nd place. The departure of Parizon for Brest will earn Philippe to recover the position of an inside right/right winger (also shared with Durkalic) and there he will achieve a complete 80/81 season without missing a single day of championship while scoring four new goals. This season he reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals with Sochaux, losing to AZ Alkmaar. He then left the Sochalien nest and joined AS Monaco in 1984 to take a step forward. On the Rock, he will stay 2 years where he wins his first title, a Coupe de France, against PSG. He played for Monaco for two seasons before moving to FC Nantes Atlantique for two seasons. Anziani left Nantes in 1988 and played one season for Matra before moving to Sporting Toulon Var. Anziani represented Toulon in the final years of its top flight, and when the club was relegated in the spring of 1993, Anziani also left. He played the 1993–1994 season for fc Martigues, who were unexpectedly promoted to the league, but the goals were no longer scored as hoped. For the last two seasons of his career, he represented Gazélec Ajaccio. Anziani will know his first selection in the France team, when he was not yet twenty years old, during a friendly against Brazil in May 1981. Thereafter he will add four caps and a goal until the last time he will be called to the Blues in October 1987. Also, for his first year in Var Anziani will go down in the history of French football by becoming the first professional player in the first division championship to be pinched for doping because a control will show that he was positive for taking Di-Antalvic (drug with narcolytic effects and which contains dextropropoxyphene (product that masks pain and therefore exceeds physiological limits) which will earn him a three-game suspension.
