INFO:Garuti is a former centre-back. His career started in 1976 at Bologna. He signed for Bari in 1979 and Pisa one year later. He had his best time with the
nerazzurri, making 144 appearances from 1980 to 1984 and scoring 7 goals, being an important player in the Pisa team that got promoted to Serie A in 1982. He retired in 1990 after playing for Avellino, Perugia and Rondinella, mostly as a reserve.
One of the most interesting Serie A defenders in the early 1980s and the key player of Pisa's back-line, Garuti was a good centre-back who got the eyes of some bigger clubs, although Pisa's president always refused offers for the defender. Garuti was already considered an expert in his role despite his young age. He wasn't easy to dribble and could rely on a solid physique. Even though he played in the middle of the defense, he didn't dislike leaving his position to advance, sometimes after freeing himself from the opposing striker. He possessed a solid crossing ability, an accurate heading and good elevation that allowed him to score some goals. He happened to take free kicks in some occasions for he had a fairly powerful shot.
