INFO:

Giorgos Savvidis was a legendary Cypriot player, one of the best players the country has produced and also one of the most successful Cypriots to play in Greece. He captained both the Cyprus national team and AEK Athens, who he led to two league titles. Savvidis was a player with exceptional physical traits, he was very tenacious and quick, and always one of the fittest players on the pitch. When other players would start to tire and spaces would open up, Savvidis would exploit them with his powerful running and tactical intelligence. He could play in most positions in midfield or in attack, but generally played as an attacking midfielder or on the right side. His technical skills were decent but nothing special, he could play some nice short passes and had a good scoring record (especially in Cyprus with Omonia) but he mostly kept things simple with the ball. He is considered a fan favourite at both AEK and Omonia, being a crucial part of one of the best generations for both teams.
