INFO:Davie Dodds was a Scottish striker best known for his time at Dundee United. He was a crucial part of the club's golden era and formed one of the best striking partnerships in Scottish football history with Paul Sturrock. Dodds was famous for his heading ability and his "unique" looks. He was unfairly characterised as an unskilled target man, and often looked a bit awkward, but he could actually turn and run with the ball, dropping deeper and playing some dangerous passes forward. He was effective at both scoring and creating goals, and he often created chances for others with accurate flicks with his head, especially for the smaller and quicker Sturrock. Most of his goals were from close to the goal, he was quick to react in the box. And he was a hard worker on the pitch, often going back to help defend. Despite his inelegant style, Dodds was a very effective presence for Dundee United for several years. In total he scored 150 goals in 369 games for United, including 22 in the league as they won the only league title in their history. He also won 2 caps for Scotland in 1983, scoring his only goal on his debut against Uruguay.
