INFO:

Carsten Nielsen was former Danish player. He started as striker but played mainly in midfield, actually he was good example of "Total Footballer": he could defend, attack and run. Nielsen had good ball control and dribbling, he was strong and mobile, but more than all he was very intelligent and despite playing mostly deeper in midfield he always knew to burst forward well timed and to score a goal. He could be used as defensive midfielder with tasks of marking and covering, but also he could be playmaker of the team with soild passing range and skillful footwork. He could also be used as striker due to his instinct for goal and solid shot, he was especially skillful in performing volleys, always had great understanding and sense of positioning. Carsten Nielsen moved to the 1976/77 season from Danish club B 1903 Copenhagen with the German champions for Mönchengladbach. In his first season he only played one game for Borussia. In the next four seasons, he always counted the squad and scored in the midfield or storm used in his other 108 games 23 goals Bundesliga for Borussia. During his five years at the German champions Borussia he was once (1977) and one UEFA Cup winner (1979). After that he played in France, in Switzerland (Neuchatel Xamax, he met with his former Borussia player Uli Stielike again) and his native Denmark.
