He was one of the best foreign players in Spanish league. In Las Palmas more a SS and CF but in NT he played deeper in midfield. Coke was one of the best free kick takers in history. He was known also for playing as withdrawn striker, sending excellent lofted passes. His ground passes were also good. Player with superb technique and uncommon excellent heading and high leap. He didn't have some great speed although he could accelerate well. He joined UD Las Palmas in 1983, where he played for six seasons scoring 93 goals in 257 matches oficiales. He returned to Chile to play at Universitad Catolica. He played for his country 's Copa America 1991, held in Chile, and that creates great excitement in the country, due in part to the emergence of Ivan Zamorano, future world star, which would form a promising duo with Patricio Yanez. However, the Chilean team only reached the third place. In 1993 he was transferred to Colo -Colo , with whom he won the national league title that season. After his successful spell at Colo -Colo, had a brief stint in Mexican football in Tampico Wood team currently called The Tigers, to finally return to Deportes Concepción in the Chilean league in 1995. Later he would continue his career in the rows of Santiago Wanderers, to retire and hang up his boots at his club of origin, the Palestinian in 1999. In 2006 is incorporated in the minor technical divisions Catholic University, which becomes the assistant coach of the first team alongside Fernando Carvallo.
