INFO:Karl Allgöwer is legendary football player who scored 230 goals from midfield in his career. Fantastic player: great scorer, playmaker and libero. And all of that in the same game. Allgower was well-known for a hard shot and his dangerous free kicks. Fast player with good dribbling and long passes. He scored also from headers and vas very mobile player. He played as a professional from 1977-1991 a total of 116 second-division games for the Stuttgarter Kickers, and 338 Bundesliga appearances with 129 goals scored for VfB Stuttgart. He was with Stuttgart German Champion 1984, reached the final of the DFB Cup in 1986 and 1989 the final of the UEFA Cup. Karl also played ten times for the German national team by 1986, he was runner-up on WC same year. From 1977 he was playing for second division club Stuttgarter Kickers. After a total of 116 second-division games and 59 goals Karl joined in the summer of 1980 for DM 700,000 transfer to local rivals VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. At the Football World Cup 1982 in Spain, he took no part. For the new season, VfB surprised with the new coach Benthaus suddenly with a refreshingly attractive and offensive play and came to the semi-finals of the DFB Cup, as well as to third place in the Bundesliga. In the 1982/83 season Allgöwer scored 21 goal. This led him in the Bundesliga scoring charts at number two behind Rudi Voeller. The great success was finally in the following season. Karl the end of 1985 participated in the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 1986, and was later also called to the final squad. In the final tournament in Mexico, in which Germany was runner-up, Allgöwer did not play. In the summer of 1987 the Dutchman Arie Haan took as the new coach of Swabia. Only in European competition, VfB Stuttgart moved by successes against Bányász Tatabánya, Dinamo Zagreb, FC Groningen, Real Sociedad and Dynamo Dresden in the finals of the UEFA Cup. Opponent in the final was Napoli with the Argentine superstar Diego Armando Maradona, who led the Southern Italians in the scandalous first leg with the energetic support of the Greek referee Gerassimos Germanakos to the 2-1 victory. The result was 3:3 in the second leg on 17 May 1989. In the Bundesliga, club was eventually fifth despite a 0-3 at Bremen, and qualified again for the UEFA Cup, as Moenchengladbach lost simultaneously against Hamburger SV. In the following season, VfB could not confirm the positive trend. This was due in large part to the departure of Juergen Klinsmann. His last home game in the jersey of VfB Stuttgart he played on the penultimate match in 2-0 win against Hamburger SV. A week later, on 15 June 1991, he played at 0-4 in Frankfurt his last Bundesliga game.
