Ferrario was stopper and occassionally sweeper, although he could cover the right back position if needed. Excellent in marking, he was also regular penalty taker in Napoli before the arrival of Maradona. He was strong physically but didn't use much force rather smart positioning and good anticipating. He wasn't particularly fast but was solid technically, able to make some decent passes. He was defensive minded player, rarely crosses the half way line, most of his goals were penalties except of one against Juve. Very reliable and consistent player, one of the leading defenders in the league but overlooked of playing for Italy NT because of "geo-political" reasons.
