Tengiz Sulakvelidze is former Georgian player. Very useful player, in NT mainly a right back meanwhile in Dinamo more a midfielder, could provide great defensive work but also score some fantastic goals (vs Bastia, Legia, Shakhtar etc.). Very tough and uncompromising, true fighter, dedicated and endurable. He had solid shot and heading abilities, decent pace, pretty strong with solid passing range and ball control. Disciple of Kutaisi Children's club team "Colchis" (the first coach - Michael Losaberidze) and the School of Kutaisi "Torpedo" (Coach - Carlo Khurtsidze). He began his career in Kutaisi "Torpedo", for which appeared in the first league in the 1974-1978 years. In 1978 he moved to Tbilisi "Dinamo", which included the champion of the USSR in 1978, the USSR Cup in 1979, won the Cup Winners' Cup 1980/81. His career ended in 1989 in Sweden IFK (Holmsund). During the Soviet national team had 49 matches and scored 2 goals. Vice-champion of Europe in 1988, a bronze medalist in 1980. From 1991 he worked as a coach at Georgia in their own academy. He was chairman of the Georgian Football Federation STC in 1990-1998, the head coach for the team "Dinamo Youth" at the age of 14 years. In 1994 (August) - 1995 - head coach of the junior team in Georgia. In 2000 - again, he was appointed head coach of the junior team in Georgia. Under him the team unsuccessfully performed in the European Championship qualifying matches and Sulakvelidze did not renew the contract. Son of Tengiz Sulakvelidze Jr. as a footballer. Currently headed by his father football academy. Grandson of Tengiz Sulakvelidze plays FC "Strogino" Moscow. According to some reports, participated in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Knight of Honor.
