Took his first steps in the local team in his hometown, the Juventina Marghera, before moving in 1969 into the ranks of Inter. He came into the first team in 1970, remaining there until 1983, for a total of 382 matches, of which 281 in the league. The game that launched him as the owner of neroazzurri was the return of the first knockout round of Champions League 1971-1972: the young person to take the place of departed Bordon Lido Vieri against Borussia Mönchengladbach, after the first leg was won by Inter for 4-2, the Germans pressed for the full 90 minutes, but the young Bordon parried everything, including a penalty and the match ended 0-0. With Inter he won two league titles (1970-1971 and 1979-1980) and two Italian Cups (1977-1978 and 1981-1982).

After the long militancy in the Nerazzurri, he played for three seasons in the ranks of Sampdoria, from 1983 to 1986, again in Serie A, in which he won another Italian Cup in the 1984-1985 season. At the end of his career he played for a season first in Sanremo and then in Brescia in Serie B in the two subsequent seasons. He retired from racing in 1989.

Bordon has played 21 games with the national team of Italian football. He is also remembered for being the vice Dino Zoff won the World Cup in 1982. Since 2004 is part of the technical staff of the Italian in the role of goalkeeping. He also held the same role at Juventus and Inter coached by Marcello Lippi. The December 11, 2006, in recognition of the role of goalkeeping coach of the Italian who won the World Cup in Germany in 2006, received a special award from the FIGC, the Golden Bench Award. It is the only player in Italian life that has helped to get two World Cups of soccer: the first from the second goalkeeper in 1982, the second goalkeeping coach in 2006.
