INFO:
Napoli was a right-back or centre back, comfortable also as right side midfielder. His career began in 1980 at Messina, where he played 208 matches and scored over 20 goals until 1987 ─ in the middle short loans at Cavese and Benevento ─ when he joined Juventus. He was mainly a reserve with the Bianconeri, playing 94 games and scoring 6 goals in four seasons. In 1991 he transferred to Cagliari, where he had his best time: 170 appearances, 9 goals and a qualification to the 1993-94 UEFA Cup, becoming one of the most valid protagonists in the history of Cagliari post-Scudetto. He left the Rossoblu in 1996 and retired two years later, after short spells at Reggina and Tempio.
Napoli was a very good defender, capable at marking but most importantly at attacking. Maybe he wasn't the best of tacklers but he had a very good anticipation ability. He was tall but thin and gifted with good speed. He could set up the play and had an excellent tactical sense, thanks to which he was effective also in the midfield. Able at guessing the flying trajectories and gifted with good technical qualities, he was a danger near or inside the opposing box due to good shots from the distance, volleys and most importantly very accurate headers. He was a similar to Antonello Cuccureddu but with a less powerful right-footed shot.
