Quote:
Certainly one of the most unusual keepers in history of the game. He never used his hands, his trademark were saves with the legs and he was even called "Portiere senza mani - Keeper without the hands". But he used all parts of the body for his saves. Not looking elegant, he was fat even clumsy, he had excellent reflexes, strong and agile. Capable of producing spectacular saves but also big errors, he divided the fans on those who appreciated him and those who critized him for his trivial errors called "Garellate". He was good on the line, solid in jump and coverage of the box, diving and grabbing the ball but without the basic technique of keepers. His athletic shape was almost diabolical, had the ability to get the tip of the foot where the hands even couldn't reach and prodigious saves. Imposing physique, agility like jaguar, courage in the penalty area, that his approach to a role in which recklessness and reflexes find their highest expression. Garella was in some ways a surreal goalkeeper, of unnatural qualities. He played the role of goalkeeper in a very original manner, the unorthodox manner to move between the posts, the ability to catch the ball using a bit all parts of the body, inelegant but effective style have made him an unique performer and inimitable in the role of goalkeeper.
