Dal Fiume is a former defensive and central midfielder, capable of playing on the right side. He spent most of his career at Perugia, playing 158 matches and scoring 13 goals from 1977 to 1982. He then had a good spell at Napoli between 1982 and 1985, appearing in 101 games and scoring 10 times. He played also for Conegliano, Varese, Udinese and Pistoiese.
Dal Fiume was a determined player with good defensive and covering abilities. He was accurate and always ready at intercepting and recovering the ball, fighting with tenacity even against great opponents. He scored a good amount of goals, considering that his main task was to mark the opposing attacking midfielder. His commitment was necessary to support his more offensive teammates who could have time to breathe. He had good speed and great stamina, nice passing ability and was dangerous in the box thanks to accurate headers. He had a fine basic dribbling and technique.
