Albel is the elder brother of Hugo Alves. He is another 'product' of the Boca youth system. He was a reliable defensive midfielder with a good technique, pace and agility (considering his height) but sometimes lacked condition because of injuries that prevented him from being a regular in the squad (or the managers simply choose to trust more experienced players). Although he played as a N°5, he regularly joined the attack and scored some easy goals coming from behind or simply using his great heading abilities. He played 138 games for Boca and scored 25 goals.
