It's like he had enough technique and awareness that he didn't need to pay attention to his surroundings.

nickname: ''Vesgo'' , ''Rei do Gatilho'' and as interista said, he was recognized for his great skill and creativity, and he earned these nicknames for the fact that he looked one way and gave the pass to the other.

Indeed, surely one of the most elegant players ever And I begin to agree with 98tech for him, take a player like Zizou, for example, Mário Sérgio surely didn't bad a First touch as good as Zidane's but his ability to play without looking at the ball and the way he could pull out unexpected sombreros and juggle with the ball in the middle of a match surely was at least as good as Zinedine

Anyway, I'd say the main reason Mário Sérgio wasn't called up too much was due to his personality. He was a very difficult person to deal with, and since Brazil had a lot of great midfielders at the time, he wasn't really "needed". RIP Mário Sérgio, another victim of the Chape plane tragedy.
