Inácio played at left back postion for Porto squad which won European Cup in 1987. He was transferred to Porto from their rivals Sporting CP. He won titles both with Sporting and Porto. He was naturally right footed, but could play equally good with both feet. Most of the time he focused on defense, but could also pose a threat in attack when running the left flank. He had good ball control, and decent crosses which were dangerous for the opposition defense. He played for Portuguese NT in 25 games, and participated in 1984 Euro and 1986 World Cup.
