Defence MindedINFO:Amodio was a right-back or centre back. He spent most of his career at Avellino from 1984 to 1990 plus a short spell in 1999 and Juve Stabia from 1993 to 1999. He played 202 matches for the
Irpini, scoring twice and 168 for the
Gialloblu, scoring four goals. He played also for Messina, Napoli, Cavese, Lecce, Taranto and Turris. He retired in 2000.
Amodio was a strong and tough defender. Not technically gifted, he never wasted any ball by trying finesses but he always cut to the chase. For these reasons he was considered as the natural successor of Bruscolotti at Napoli but his time with the
Partenopei was really short. An able header, he could be effective in the opposing area, either if hitting the ball towards the goal or giving an assist. Not always careful, this characteristic combined with his toughness could lead him to commit a penalty faul.
