Todesco is a former winger and side midfielder. His career started in 1976 at Como where he played until 1979 and returned in 1983, playing for six more seasons for a total 222 appearances and 25 goals. He also played for Lazio in 1979-80, Genoa in 1980-81, Pisa from 1981 to 1983, North York Rockets in 1989-90, and Saronno from 1990 to 1992.
Todesco was a fast left-footed player, accurate with the right foot as well but not very prolific. He wasn't always effective in front of the goal but had a good first-time touch, heading, and occasionally attempted overhead kicks. He was more of an assist-man who could provide accurate crosses either high or low. While he wasn't strong, he was gifted with good ball control and dribbling ability. This combination didn't make him dangerous only on the flank but also in the box as whenever hewould make a short sprint he would look for a defender, trying to get physical and possibly earn a penalty.
