INFO:

Gordon Strachan was, along with Willie Miller, the best player in the Aberdeen team that won the European Cup Winners Cup under Alex Ferguson. He was a wide playmaker, often drifting into the centre of the pitch to orchestrate attacks, especially with sharp one-two passes which he used to carve open even the best defences. He was also a very mobile player, running for 90 minutes straight, and very fast and agile. He was a regular set piece taker, an excellent penalty taker, with good delivery from corners and free kicks, none more famous than his assist for Alex McLeish's goal against Bayern in 1983, tricking the defence by pretending to argue with his teammate before suddenly crossing the ball into the box. At this earlier point of his career, he was a slightly more immature player, his trademark affable personality always on show, he had yet to develop into the great captain and leader he became at Leeds United.

Since retiring Strachan has managed several teams including Celtic, Southampton and the Scottish national team. He is a regular on British TV and is known for his sharp wit and humour in interviews.

INFO:

Gordon Strachan is a Scottish football manager and former football player (midfielder). Most recently, he coached the Middlesbrough FC. He played as right midfielder but also in central midfield, very endurable player who was everywhere on the pitch, very fast, good organizer of the attacks but also scorer, very good passing range, pretty agile with solid shot, reliable penalty taker, great fighter. Strachan is one of the most successful Scottish player of the last twenty years. Its by far most successful period as a player he experienced in the late 1970s to the mid 1980s when Aberdeen under the coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson. He won the championship twice (1980 and 1984), the trophy on three occasions (1982, 1983 and 1984), as well as the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup and the 1984 European Supercup. 1980 Strachan was voted Scotland's Player of the Year. He then moved to England to Manchester United, where he became 1985 champions. 1989 she moved to Leeds United, where he teamed up with his compatriot Gary McAllister in 1992 she won the English championship. A year earlier, Strachan was elected to England's Footballer of the Year. At the end of his career, Strachan played one more season for Coventry City. Well as international, he was successful, he took part in the World Cup finals in 1982 and 1986 and completed six games (1 goal). He completed a total of 50 caps for Scotland, scoring 5 goals. Strachan is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame. After his career as a player he became a coach. Initially he trained Coventry, with whom he descended, however, from the Premier League. Likewise, less successful was his time at Southampton. After another station at Celtic from 2009-2010 he coached the team from Middlesbrough.
