Enzo was a defensive or central midfielder. He had his best time at Lecce, where he spent six seasons from 1983 to 1989, playing 213 matches and scoring 3 goals. He also played for other clubs including Atalanta, Torino, Ascoli and Taranto.
Enzo was gifted with a good physique that helped him doing his main task, which was marking constantly the opponent, being effective even against Diego Maradona. He was a warrior who had great determination, adding quantity in the game throughout its entire length. He also had good speed and recovering ability, proving to be an excellent help for the defence. His quickness was also showed during his runs forward, which sometimes ended with a powerful long range shot on both feet − even though he didn't score many goals − or, when he didn't have the ball on his feet, by going inside the box and delivering good headers.
