Faccenda is a former sweeper, centre-back and side-back. His career started in 1978 at Isola Liri. Following a a two-year experience at Latina from 1979 to 1981, he signed for Genoa where he spent five seasons, making 170 appearances and scoring 7 goals. He then was an important player for Pisa from 1986 to 1989, playing 104 matches and scoring 4 goals. He had his last major experience with Fiorentina from 1989 to 1994, playing 142 games and scoring 4 goals. He retired in 1995 after a season at Carrarese.
A reliable and versatile defender, Faccenda possessed good mentality, high stamina, and ability in the air thanks to an accurate heading and a great jump. He could close the space in front of his opponents very well and cover the ground for his fellow defenders. He was also capable of carrying the ball forward from of his own area with good timing despite lacking of technical skills, joining the attack in the process when necessary. Sometimes rough in his tackling, he got sanctioned many times.
