Raniga is a former goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career with Fijian team Ba F.C., being the starting keeper of the legendary team that won six consecutive District Championships from 1975 to 1980. He capped for Fiji numerous times, starting from 1976.
Considered one of the best goalkeepers in Fiji history alongside Savenaca Waqa, he's a legend of both Ba F.C. and Fiji national team. Bulky and standing at nearly 7ft, his size would be a rarity in the Fiji Islands even nowadays. The opposing strikers feared to even get close to him with the ball. A part from his huge physique, he possessed good goalkeeping skills. As he probably wasn't fast, he stayed in goal between the posts most of the time yelling at his teammates, and his voice was so loud that it could even be heard by the audience.
