INFO:Boldrini is a former sweeper or defensive midfielder. He spent almost his entire career at Spal, playing 306 matches and scoring 1 goal from 1967 to 1977. He's Spal record-man for appearances. He retired in 1978 after spending one season at Paganese.
One of the most important players in Spal's history, Boldrini was for many years the pillar of the defensive line even though he didn't have man marking duties. While he had a thin physique and his defence wasn't always flawless ─ at times he would miss the intervention and give his opponent a chance to score ─ he had a tough tackling ability the earned him the nickname
Ruspa (Italian for "Bulldozer"). Moreover, he knew how to take advantage of an opponent's mistake and immediately turn defence into attack for his own team. His main task though was to protect the back-line. In fact, sometimes it happened that his starting position was winger, especially in his early years, but he would be immediately moved to his sweeper role to carry out his covering task.
