BalancedINFO:Giuseppe Materazzi − father of World Cup winner Marco − was a midfielder who played mostly for Lecce and always in Serie C: 228 matches and 17 goals from 1968 to 1975. He's the club longest serving captain. He played also for Reggina and Bari. His main position was right-half but he was used most times as inside at Lecce.
Materazzi was a player able to set up the action in an excellent way and he was the one who had to preserve the order in the midfield. He was dynamic, had athletic power and his playstyle was mainly based on a good tactical intelligence. He was effective in attack as well, considering his decent number of goals. At Bari he played also as side midfielder to take advantage of his crosses.
