Antonio Rigamonti was a goalkeeper who spent most of his career at Como between 1973 and 1976, playing 118 matches and also scoring 6 penalties, holding the record of goals scored by a goalkeeper in Italy. While playing for Como he never missed a league game, even though he had to be substituted during a match against Fiorentina because he was hit by a bolt thrown by an opposing supporter. He had spells in several other teams like Atalanta, Cremonese, Milan, Varese and Messina. He retired in 1986.
Rigamonti had the unusual ability to score penalties, which he began to do after Como's coach Giuseppe Marchioro noticed he was good at it during training. The most memorable penalty he took is probably the one against Milan's Enrico Albertosi, despite having a muscle tear. He stopped taking penalty kicks after Cagliari's Renato Copparoni saved one. Regarding his goalkeeper abilities, not surprisingly he had decent technique and could use the feet well. He also was able to read the game and anticipate the opponents before they could their move, had good reaction, agility and elevation. On the other hand he often suffered bad positioning and whenever he left the goal and tried to catch the ball he wasn't very effective most of the times because the ball was likely to slip from his hands.
