INFO:
Filippi was a midfielder. In his early career, he played for Chioggia Sottomarina and Padova before joining Bologna, where he played 3 Serie A matches in 1972. After a spell at Reggina and a short comeback at Padova, he transferred to Vicenza in 1975: 98 league matches and 2 goals in three seasons. Then he played 69 games − in all competitions − for Napoli between 1978 and 1980, scoring once. After a season at Atalanta and two at Cesena, he returned to Vicenza, where he played 102 more games in four seasons, scoring twice, before retiring in 1987.
Filippi was meant to play near Paolo Rossi at Vicenza and for this reason he used to wear the shirt n° 11. However he was a midfielder who played arrear on the side, connecting attack and defence like a wing-back. In fact his main task was to stop the opponent who got in front of him, to cover every space possible with intelligence and then ran forward when he had the chance. He was a very small player, gifted though with great speed and stamina, thanks to which he ran constantly for 90 minutes. One of the best players in almost every match, he was everywhere, the motor of the team, making sprints and turns, driving up throughout the whole match, relentlessly recovering balls with braveness. For these reasons he was always acclaimed by the critics, regardless his actual performance. He used both feet with ease, rarely missed a pass, had good vision of the game and intuition. His passes didn't have high speed but were accurate. He sometimes took free kicks from the side to send the ball in the box. Due to his frantic movements down the flank, he was nicknamed "Fury" during his time at Vicenza. Then, he could stop his run when he an opponent in front of him, show his technique with a feint and look to gain a penalty inside the box or looking for a cross. Despite having a decent dribbling ability, his touches of the ball in general weren't too good but this gap was offset with his quickness. In fact, due to his short size and constant movements, it was easy that he wasn't seen but when he reappeared in the heart of the action, he had the ball on his feet and ran, dribbled and fought tirelessly.
