INFO:Ahmed is a former central and attacking midfielder. He spent his entire career at Al-Mina'a from 1970 to 1985. He gained 79 caps for Iraq, scoring 12 goals, taking part to the 1976, 1979 and 1982 Arabian Gulf Cup and the 1980 Olympics. He was named MVP of the 1979 Arabian Gulf Cup, won by Iraq.
Regarded as one of the best, if not the best, and most prominent Iraqi players during the 1970s and 1980s and in the entire history of Iraqi football, Ahmed was a talented midfield general, who usually filled the central zone. However, he acted as well as playmaker, especially for the national team. He possessed a good physique and was praised for his high technical level. He was very dynamic, could deliver accurate through passes and powerful long range shots.
