INFO:
Jreij is a former attacking midfielder. He played for Racing Club Beirut throughout the 1970s and 1980s, retiring in 1990 after winning many trophies. He gained several caps for Lebanon and was named best attacking midfielder of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in 1979 despite his national team withdrawal against Syria. Nicknamed "Captain Jreij", he was, in fact, captain of both Racing Club Beirut from 1974 to 1985 and Lebanon during the 1970s.
Regarded as one of the best ever Lebanese players, Jreij was a clever and skilled midfielder, who had both the qualities of a playmaker and attacker, being capable of both scoring and making his teammates score. His playstyle though was also made of individual skills and speed, technique and rare dribbling, the ability to keep the ball and carry it forward. He was considered like a Brazilian player even though he took inspiration from German legends Franz Beckenbauer, Paul Breitner and Karl-Heinz Rümmenigge.
