He made 391 appearances and scored 10 goals for Birmingham City in all competitions over a 17-year career. The ex-Wales international served with selfless distinction at full-back, centre-half or in the midfield. A model of consistency, Page’s effort, endeavour and commitment was second to none. Typifies the name utility player. In his time in Birmingham he has played in all positions except goalkeeper. He was best known as a midfielder but could turn his skills to any outfield position with confidence. A TRUE team player in every sense of the word, Malcolm Page was one of the most reliable and admired Birmingham City FC footballers. Recognised as a defender or wing-half when he first started out, his personal preference was midfield but he was particularly adept at full-back. Malcolm was capped 28 times for Wales which made him the clubs most capped player up until 2005 when he was surpassed by Stan Lazaridis. Whilst Page was capped by Wales he also captained the national side too. In 2012, Page was one of seven former players elected to Birmingham City's Hall of Fame. |
