INFO:Quick, proactive, interacted well with partners. Lovchev was able to both stop the opponent's attack and start his own with an accurate pass. Lovchev was a unique footballer, he regularly joined the attacks, which his colleagues in the role did not do then. Firmly established at the left back position, however he could be used as a defensive midfielder or a centre back (as it was in Mexico 70'). Among the main characteristics, he possessed an excellent vision and ability to quickly organize the attack of his team, famous for running from flag to flag for 90 minutes. Very often he would join the attack and he would often have an assist from a cross. Lovchev himself for a long time considered speed to be his main advantage. He was instilled in a respectful attitude towards rivals - in 11 years in the big leagues Lovchev have not received a single yellow card (only in the first match of the World Cup 70' with the Mexicans). His game was not rough.
In the very first "Spartak" year he became the champion of the country. In 1969 he also made his debut for the USSR national team , played in qualifying matches and matches in the final tournament of the world championship . He played 52 matches for the USSR national team, scored 1 goal (to Tunisia in a friendly game). He played 12 matches for the USSR Olympic team.
Bronze medalist at the 1972 Olympic Games. Member of the 1970 World Cup. Played as part of the world team in Garrincha's farewell match in Rio de Janeiro in December 1973. Participated in the qualifying tournament for the European Championship 1972 & 1976 (Lobanovskyi called him because Lovchev fits his concept of the game, which included fast mobile full-backs, often joining the attack)
In 1972 he was recognized as the best football player of the USSR.
In 1976, together with the team, he flew to the 1st league. With the arrival of Konstantin Beskov to the team, Lovchev gradually lost his place in the squad and moved to Dinamo Moscow in 1978 (after a split between the players, one amount stood for Lovchev, the other lot with Prokhorov). However, he was never allowed to play the 1978 season, and the next season, having barely started, he was injured - in a game against Shakhtar in Donetsk, he tore a muscle.
